Short detours to discover a different side of the Rimini Riviera

From historic villas to city parks, autumn invites you to see the area from a different perspective, exploring its history, nature and lesser-known spots.

You don’t need to go far to discover the Riviera in autumn. Simply change your route and let your curiosity guide you: on the hills of Covignano, along the coast at Viserba and Viserbella, or in the city’s parks and green spaces, Rimini reveals a lesser-known side, best explored at a leisurely pace.

The Museo degli Sguardi, at Villa Alvarado on the hill of Covignano, is one such place off the beaten track. On 10 October, from 5 pm to 7 pm, and on 31 October, Saturday 21 November and Saturday 12 December from 4 pm to 6 pm, there will be special opening hours with free guided tours. The collections, comprising over 7,000 works from various cultures around the world, reveal a side of Rimini far removed from the typical seaside image.

On 25 October at 10.30 am, meanwhile, you can join a guided tour of the villas in Viserba and Viserbella, setting off from Via Dati 14, in front of Villa Adelia. A walk to discover the history of this stretch of coastline and its period villas, a testament to the era when these resorts were popular as elegant seaside destinations.

UrbanTrek: city walking experiences in Rimini and Riccione
Then there is a more natural side to Rimini, made up of parks, footpaths and green spaces that often lie off the beaten track. With the walks organised by UISP, every two weeks you can explore different corners of the area on foot, accompanied by expert guides.

In Rimini, the Saturday morning walks, covering around 5 km, set off at 9 am from the Ausa car park: on 10 October, the walk takes place in Parco della Cava, combining nature and history, whilst on 31 October the route is dedicated to ‘Around the World in 80 Trees’. The programme continues in the coming months with walks exploring the Grotta Rossa, the hidden Ausa and the countryside around Villaggio Primo Maggio. | For info

In Riccione, the walks are around 6 km long, setting off at 9 am from the entrance to the Stadio del Nuoto: 17 and 24 October, 14 and 28 November, 12 December. | For more information
