The Director tells
Villanovian Municipal Archaeological Museum
Three Sundays dedicated to an in-depth study of the Villanovan civilisation, discovering curiosities and details related to the extraordinary finds preserved in the museum.
PROGRAM
Sunday 25th January 10.30 a.m.
FROM THE BALTIC TO THE MEDITERRANEAN. Distant Horizons in the Verucchio Museum
Through the varied objects deposited in the rich tombs of Verucchio, a journey takes place between distant places, connected to each other in as yet little known ways, in the incredible network of the most ancient trade. In times more distant than previously thought, a high level of technological development, social organisation and an extensive network of trade was achieved, which we will discover in the first of our tours.
Sunday 1 February 10.30 a.m.
WEAVERS IN VERUCCHIO. Fine craftsmanship and natural resources
In the Villanovan world, the production of fine textiles was only the last step in a complex supply chain, which we will also reconstruct thanks to the archaeo-botanical and zoological data of a rich and well-used nature. Plants and animals, studied using new scientific techniques, are reborn with great vivacity, thanks also to new installations, together with the delicate work of female hands.
Sunday 8 February 10.30 a.m.
FOOD FOR THE LIVING - FOOD FOR THE DEAD. The recipes of the ancient inhabitants of Verucchio
Today, archaeological research is also developing along increasingly refined lines of knowledge through zoology and botany. Finds in Verucchio tombs and research in settlement sites offer us the opportunity to approach this picture of customs and traditions from the most ancient Iron Age, imagining recipes and predilections of the ancient inhabitants of Verucchio.
