The event "Capodanno del Vino e Palio della Pigiatura" (New Year's Day of Wine and Palio della Pigiatura) celebrates the traditions of rural Romagna, as well as the quality wines produced in San Giovanni in Marignano by the many wineries and cellars present. This event is therefore a welcome to the new wine and a celebration of the end of the grape harvest. During the day, it is possible to take a dip into the past, back to the beginning of the 20th century, among ancient crafts and many characters. It is also possible to taste traditional products, especially wine, as well as take part in games and events for young and old, evoking life in the countryside and rural civilisation. The climax of the event is the 'Palio della Pigiatura', where the Marignano hamlets, represented by a couple, will compete in historical costumes to win the Palio di Marignano, stepping on grapes barefoot into the barrel. to celebrate together the products and knowledge that make our territory unique, excellences that tell of the know-how, passion and authenticity of this land. It is a celebration that unites memory and present, capable of strengthening our identity and at the same time the evolution of products that have become renowned and recognised.
