Gran fondo Squali 2026
Comune di Cattolica
From 15 to 17 May 2026, Cattolica will be transformed into the beating heart of Italian cycling with the Granfondo Squali - Cattolica & Gabicce Mare, an unmissable event that promises excitement and challenges to those who love cycling. This competition, among the most important in Italy, will see its 11th edition, confirming its fame as one of the most attended and appreciated amateur sports events.
A Unique Event that Tells the Passion for Cycling
Organised every year by the Velo Club Cattolica and the Ciclo Team 2001 Gabicce Mare, with the support of the Municipality of Cattolica, the Granfondo Squali is an event that celebrates the passion for cycling and involves cyclists of all levels. From amateur races to routes for families and enthusiasts, the event is designed for all those who want to put themselves to the test.
The Values of the Granfondo Squali Territory, Safety and Sustainability
Three are the pillars on which the Granfondo Squali is based:
Exalting the Territories: The race route passes through some of the most evocative places on the Romagna Riviera
Safety: Particular attention is paid to the safety of participants, ensuring an event that complies with regulations and provides a serene experience for all cyclists.
Sustainability: The Granfondo promotes eco-sustainability, with 'green' initiatives that see the bicycle as a symbol of a cleaner future.
The Granfondo Routes: Challenge and Landscapes
Participants will have a choice of three routes to suit different abilities and preferences:
Long Route (up to 120 km) is the most challenging and suitable for experienced cyclists. With challenging climbs and breathtaking altitude differences, it is a real test for cycling enthusiasts.
Percorso Medio (about 85 km) offers a moderate but no less fascinating challenge, passing through the medieval village of Mondaino and the San Bartolo Park.
Shark 46, a short route of 46 km designed for neophytes and tourists, who want to enjoy the beauty of the area without the anxiety of the chronometer. A relaxing but exciting track, celebrating the bond with Valentino Rossi and his home village, Tavullia.
Not Only Race: A Weekend of Celebration
The Granfondo Squali is much more than a race. It is an opportunity to experience a whole three days of celebration, sport and tourism. While cyclists tackle the route, family and friends can participate in numerous side activities, such as visits to the Cattolica Aquarium, trekking, and food and wine tours. The Shark Arena exhibition park, located inside the Cattolica Aquarium Park, will host over 70 exhibitors, with products and equipment dedicated to the world of cycling.
