Three evenings of history, mystery and ancient beliefs await the public in Verucchio with ‘Arcana’, a series of events that will take participants on a journey of discovery through rituals, superstitions and hidden knowledge spanning antiquity, the Middle Ages and the modern era.

The events will take place on Saturday 27 June, Saturday 8 August and Saturday 29 August, at 9.00 pm, at the Verucchio Archaeological Museum and the Malatesta Fortress in Verucchio.

The series opens on 27 June with ‘Foglia e le sue sorelle’ (Foglia and her sisters), a journey through the Villanovan priestesses and the magical-religious practices of the Etruscan, Greek and Roman worlds, which will conclude with the creation of a propitiatory bouquet made from herbs.

On 8 August, it will be the turn of “Eccellentissima Strega”, dedicated to the stories of women accused of witchcraft in the Romagna and Emilia regions, featuring a final workshop to create a clay talisman decorated with alchemical symbols.

The series will conclude on 29 August with “Di Amore, di Morte e altro…”, a journey through love potions, mysterious herbs, secret formulas and ancient remedies, followed by a workshop during which each participant will create their own elixir inspired by ancient knowledge.

From 7.30 pm, before each event, visitors will also be able to take part in a picnic, sampling the specialities of Kiss My Piada’ss, whilst immersed in the picturesque setting hosting the events.
