The summer in Santarcangelo di Romagna is once again set to be filled with the sounds of jazz, with the third edition of the festival dedicated to young talents from the region’s conservatoires and music schools.

Three evenings with free admission will bring the MET Arena to life, offering a journey through great classics, original compositions and famous film soundtracks reinterpreted in a jazz style.

The series kicks off on Thursday 16 July at 9.00 pm with the Santarcangelo Music School Big Band, conducted by Roberto Siroli, who will perform some of the greatest masterpieces in the history of jazz, from Duke Ellington to Count Basie, including timeless pieces such as ‘Take Five’, ‘Summertime’ and ‘Night Train’, featuring the vocals of Silvia Palazzini.

On 23 July, it will be the turn of the Maderna/Lettimi Orchestra, conducted by Roberto Rossi, which will bring to the stage original compositions and arrangements created by students on the Jazz Composition course, with the participation of composer Lorena Fontana.

The series will conclude on 29 July with the Big Band of the Rossini Conservatoire in Pesaro, conducted by Gianmarco Gualandi, which will present ‘Schermi Sonori’, a tribute to the great composers of Italian film soundtracks such as Riz Ortolani, Piero Umiliani, Armando Trovajoli and Piero Piccioni, in a fascinating fusion of jazz, cinema and singer-songwriter music.
