New Italian scene from around the world
Comune di Riccione
Three new voices in Italian theatre are taking to the stage thanks to a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation – Directorate-General for Growth and the Promotion of Exports – and Riccione Teatro.
The protagonists are Francesco Alberici, Chiara Arrigoni and Caroline Baglioni, who will present three new monologues lasting around half an hour, taking on the dual roles of writers and performers.
On Saturday 7 November, the Spazio Tondelli in Riccione will host the debut of ‘Nuova scena italiana dal mondo’ (New Italian Theatre from Around the World), a project curated by Simone Bruscia and Graziano Graziani. The initiative renews the commitment to promoting contemporary drama abroad, giving the stage to three emerging playwrights – all previous finalists of the Riccione Prize – who will perform their own works in their dual roles as playwrights and performers, accompanied by music by Riccardo Fazi.
The afternoon begins at 4.00 pm with “Turchina” by Caroline Baglioni, a contemporary reinterpretation of Collodi’s fairy tale that imagines a new chapter dedicated to the Blue Fairy.
At 4.45 pm, Chiara Arrigoni presents “La sposa”, a contemporary fairy tale inspired by the myths of hybrid women, suspended between animal nature and monstrosity.
The programme concludes at 5.30 pm with Francesco Alberici’s “Su due piedi”, an introspective monologue set on a football pitch during a Sunday of ordinary madness.
The event is free to attend at Spazio Tondelli; booking is recommended via email at organizzazione@riccioneteatro.it
