Based on a true story, the play recounts the dramatic climb in the Peruvian Andes in 1985, when mountaineers Joe Simpson and Simon Yate were involved in an accident that led Joe to fall into a cliff. Forced to cut the rope to save himself, Simon leaves his companion to his fate.
The show alternates between past and present, exploring passion, friendship, resilience and the weight of guilt, confronting the audience with a universal question: what would we have done in Simon's place?
Represented in Italy for the first time, Scottish playwright David Greig's play has been enthusiastically received by international critics, tackling themes of choice, ethics and survival in an intense and deeply moving work.
