Santarcangelo di Romagna among traditions and curiosities .
Santarcangelo di Romagna is an ancient medieval hamlet with a strong Romagnese identity.
Do you like traditions and curiosities? You are in the right place. Santarcangelo di Romagna is the cradle of traditions, of typical characteristics and curiosities, of the true culinary art of the area.
There are many reasons why this hamlet deserves a visit; one of these is an ancient mangle dating back to 1633 that is still functional and is located in the Marchi printing house in Via C. Battisti 15; it is a large vertical wooden wheel with a diameter of 6 meters, rotated by the strength of one or two men walking
inside it.
After a visit to the printing house, by continuing on through the alleys of the hamlet you can be awed by a sunset that appears among the stone houses, until you arrive at the Button Museum, a small jewel of wonders that boasts a collection of 8,500 buttons.
The history of buttons is the history of man and his evolution, an itinerary that goes through buttons that belonged to the Popes, to the military uniforms of Hitler and Mussolini, with some finds designed by Pablo Picasso for Coco Chanel in the 1920s, on up to the buttons of space suits.
