Museum of Information Technology
Museo di Informatica di Pennabilli is an extraordinary place for exploring the history and evolution of information technology in Europe. Opened in July 1991 and recently relocated to the prestigious Palazzo del Bargello, the museum had the honour of being officially inaugurated by the Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi in July 2022.
A visit to Museo di Informatica di Pennabilli is a journey that takes you through the past, present, and future of information technology, an experience to guide you in your understanding of an increasingly interconnected and digitalized world.
The museum is not just a simple collection of memories from the past; it is, above all, an extraordinary opportunity to understand the present while anticipating the future, with a special focus in the educational setting.
Here, you can explore the convergence between electronics and information technology, the four generations of computers (vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated circuits, and microprocessors), and the advent of the personal computer and internet.
The exhibition also includes robots, virtual reality headsets and 3D vision, immersing you in today’s reality, where the computer has become an essential component of civic, social, and cultural progress.
The museum is located in Piazza Sant’Agostino. For more information, telephone 3382406649.
