Italian Global Series Festival
Comune di Riccione
The “Italian Global Series Festival” is back – the international festival dedicated to television drama that promotes TV series by highlighting their production, direction, screenwriting and cast.
The event takes place in Rimini (Cinema Fulgor, Teatro Galli, Teatro degli Atti and Corte degli Agostiniani, from 3 to 6 July) and Riccione (PalaRiccione, Arena Piazzale Ceccarini, from 7 to 10 July) and is free to attend.
Following the previews presented at Cannes, the Festival unveils the heart of its programme: the International Competition, talks with leading figures from the global TV series industry, and Italian premieres of the upcoming season.
The Competition, divided into the three sections “Drama”, “Comedy” and “Limited Series”, will award the prestigious “Maximo Awards”, among the most authoritative accolades in Italian audiovisual media.
This year, the competition features three Italian world premieres, all produced by Rai Fiction: “I casi di Teresa Battaglia – Figlia della cenere” by Kiko Rosati, starring Elena Sofia Ricci (the “Drama” section), “One of Us” by Andrea Rebuzzi starring Raoul Bova (the “Limited Series” section), and “Una piccola formalità” by Davide Marengo starring Pilar Fogliati (the “Comedy” section), which join a selection of international titles, many of which are World Premieres or International Premieres.
The “Drama” selection features the eagerly awaited return of the anthology series “The Terror” with “Devil in Silver”, produced by Scott Free – the first US title in competition at the Festival – which will be accompanied in Riccione by the two leading ladies, Judith Light and CCH Pounder.
In an era of war and peace, two events will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the science fiction series “Star Trek”, which first aired in the autumn of 1966, during the Vietnam War, of which it was, in some ways, a mirror and a metaphor. On 8 July in Riccione, there will be a special preview screening of an episode from the new season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”. The fourth season of the series will debut, following the event, on 23 July on Paramount+.
Alongside the Competition, the event reaffirms its role as a forum for dialogue and reflection, thanks to a programme of talks bringing together some of the most influential voices in contemporary television.
