From September, on the second Sunday of every month, VisitRimini is offering a guided tour of the exhibition “The Code of the Passion: Bellini and Mantegna in the Mirror”, hosted at the “Luigi Tonini” City Museum.

At the heart of the tour is Giovanni Bellini’s Pietà, which has returned to Rimini following extensive restoration and an exhibition at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York, presented alongside Andrea Mantegna’s Saint Sebastian. Two great figures of the Renaissance, linked by family and artistic ties, who interpret the theme of the Passion of Christ in different ways.

The tour continues through the museum’s galleries, exploring the Rimini Renaissance – from Giotto to the Malatesta family and on to Ghirlandaio – to illustrate Rimini’s role in fifteenth-century humanist culture and its links with the great Italian artistic centres.
