Duration: 2 days
Km: 20
Means: car

First stop Montefiore Conca, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy

Montefiore Conca, a veritable treasure trove of mediaeval history è one of the most fascinating villages in the Malatesta Seignory. Its fortress is imposing and can also be seen from the sea. The woods, the countryside and the view of the Apennine mountains and the coast create a perfect balance between history and nature.

  • The Rocca Malatestiana is the protagonist of this village, an architectural jewel that welcomed popes and princes in its frescoed rooms.
  • Curina Gate is the entrance to the fortified village and, together with the surrounding walls, is a symbol of the medieval past and its strategic importance.
  • The Sanctuary of the Madonna of Bonora just outside the village, in an atmosphere of peace and spirituality, wedged between chestnut woods, is home to a miraculous image of the Madonna del Latte.

Second stop Saludecio the town of murals

A borgo of colourful alleyways, enveloped in an atmosphere of yesteryear with murals dedicated to 19th century inventions. Here, art merges with history for a truly original experience. Get ready to take photos and discover hidden nooks and crannies.

Walk through the Marina Gate to reach the Church of San Biagio, the “small cathedral” which houses the Sanctuary of the Blessed Amato. A corner of spirituality enriched by the Museum of Sacred Art, with its precious works of art.
Among the places not to be missed are the majestic Palazzo Albini, the Torre Civica, the convent of the Gerolimini and the striking Porta Montanara. An itinerary that winds its way through art, history and the curious murals that decorate the alleyways.
The 50 Murals of the village painted on the walls of 19th-century-themed houses depicting the most important and curious inventions of that period.

Third stop Mondaino a village that holds many surprises

Leave your car at the foot of the walls to explore the alleys around the Rocca Malatestiana that towers above the landscape.

  • The sturdy Porta Marina, of military architecture, greets visitors entering the town. The Malatesta Fortress is a popular destination for visitors.
  • Piazza Maggiore è the heart of Mondaino, whose unique circular shape has earned it the nickname "the frying pan" among locals.
  • The Rocca è a splendid example of Malatesta architecture, today home to the town hall and cultural institutions.
  • The Palaeontological Museum houses incredible collections and an exhibition of Renaissance majolica.
  • The Church of St Michael Archangel, with its ornate paintings and altarpieces, adds a touch of sacredness to the village.

Fourth stop Montegridolfo the village between two valleys

Following Provincial Road 17 after a few kilometres lies the village of Montegridolfo.
Where every corner tells a story, every building retains its authenticity.

The Municipal Palace and the Palazzo Viviani, now converted into a refined accommodation facility, dominate the historic centre.
At the entrance to the town, the 14th-century Church of San Rocco and the Castle of San Rocco complete the picture of this welcoming village, where time seems to have stood still to preserve the past.
