Based on a true story, the play is set in 1985, during a climbing attempt in the Peruvian Andes. Here, during the descent, mountaineers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates suffer an accident that causes Joe to fall into a cliff; in order not to risk falling with his partner, Simon is forced to cut the climbing rope.
The story unfolds between past and present, between passion, guilt, friendship and resilience. Time and space blur, presenting the audience with a constant question: what would we have done in Simon's place? Performed for the first time in Italy, the text by Scottish playwright David Greig, which has been reviewed very positively by international critics, is a profound reflection on the theme of choices, ethical and otherwise, that surround events.
