The Associazione I Cammini di Francesco in Emilia Romagna once again proposes an itinerary of nativity scenes along the Saint Francis Walk.
From December to 6 January, in Rimini, in the villages of the Marecchia Valley and at the Sanctuary of La Verna, numerous nativity scenes are on display in convents, fortresses, churches; ancient and modern; made by master nativity scene makers, nuns and friars, works of art or simple creations made by children.
All to celebrate the birth of the Child of Bethlehem, as St Francis called him.

Cathedral Basilica of St Columba

21st-century resin nativity scene. Inside the Cathedral, works by Giotto,
Piero della Francesca, Agostino di Duccio, Giorgio Vasari.

Sanctuary of St. Anthony of Padua (Paolotti)

Hours: 9 a.m. - 12 noon; 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Mechanical nativity scene made of various materials from the 20th century, with daily variation of lights.
Inside the church works by Achille Funi

Sanctuary Madonna della Misericordia (Santa Chiara)

Hours: 8 a.m. - 12 noon; 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Semi-mechanical nativity scene from the 20th century made of various materials and dressed in fine fabrics.
On the main altar miraculous image of Our Lady of Mercy painted in 1796 by G. Soleri Brancaleoni.

The Poor Clare nuns offer for sale beautifully crafted cribs made of
olive wood, cherry wood or plaster, which they make themselves in about fifty different models.

18th-century nativity scene in terracotta
