Ciambella (traditional cake)

Ingredients for 4 people


  • 400 g of flour
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g of butter
  • 1 sachet of baking powder
  • Grated peel of 1 lemon
  • ½ glass of milk
  • Greaseproof paper for oven baking


knead all the ingredients together well. Line a baking tin with greaseproof paper then place two long “loaves” of dough, about 3 cm high each, onto it. Put the baking tin into an oven that has been pre-heated to 180°C, for about half an hour. Any variations to this basic recipe are at your discretion and should be added before placing into the oven. For example, add pieces of dark chocolate, chopped almonds, hazelnut chocolate spread or coloured sugar sprinkles.
