First stop Teatro Galli, cross the threshold, experience the magic
The Theatre Amintore Galli, overlooking the Piazza Cavour is resurrected in 2018. It is a rediscovered jewel and crossing its threshold means attending a performance or taking part in a guided tour. Teatro Galli is an experience not to be missed.
Second stop Gambalunga Library, culture has deep roots
Having crossed Piazza Cavour, one enters Via Gambalunga where the Biblioteca Civica Gambalunga is located, which originates from the generous bequest of the Rimini jurist Alessandro Gambalunga. Upon his death in 1619, the Gambalunga became the first civic library in Italy to be opened for public use.
The large entrance portal overlooks a beautiful courtyard, in the centre of which, since 1928, there has been an 18th-century well made of Istrian stone.
You can visit the ancient halls free of charge every last Saturday of the month.
Third stop The Surgeon's House, on the trail of Eutyches
Walk to the Casa del Chirurgo, in Piazza Ferrari. It is an archaeological site, and during the excavations that brought it to light, the most exceptional find of a collection of no less than 150 surgical instruments was uncovered, leaving no doubt as to the identity of the host, Eutyches, was a military doctor.
Walk now to the sea, or do it by bicycle, the means of transport perfectly in keeping with Rimini life.
Fourth stop The 18th-century lighthouse, guardian of the harbour, witness to stories
The 'palata' of the port is the most beloved promenade in Rimini, the place of Amarcord by Federico Fellini, the realm of sailors and fishermen, watched over by the seventeenth-century lighthouse that rises above the canal port.
It is one of the oldest lighthouses in Italy and for 254 years has illuminated the route to a safe port. With its elegant white structure, it stands majestically over the canal port, scanning the horizon for over three centuries. For the people of Rimini, it is an indelible landmark, a silent guardian that has seen the city transformed over time without ever losing its role.
